My Last Day of Work Before Surgery…
Today was my last day working at Mom’s school before my amputation, which is scheduled for this coming Thursday. I know Mom is nervous and wondering if I will come through the surgery OK. I have lived with Mom and Dad for almost three years now, and have been through several surgeries (to remove cancerous lumps and teats) so Mom knows how I am as a patient – she says I am great. Even so, I know the thought of me losing a leg is scary for Mom. I am somewhat clumsy as it is and I am sure Mom worries that I will struggle getting around. I am just happy that I will no longer have to deal with the pain cause by the tumor in my shoulder. Mom has told people at work, but she has chosen NOT to tell the students – she wants to make sure everything goes OK first, and then she will let them know what to expect when I return.

Some of my liver numbers were up, so I now have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow and amputation has been rescheduled for Monday, pending the outcome of the ultrasound.
