Three Days Post-Op…

I am 72 hours post-op. Mom took the fentanyl patch off tonight so I am starting to feel more like myself. I am on two medications to help with the pain. Now that I am a little less out-of-it, Mom hopes I will start to hop a little more. Currently, she and/or Dad need to use towels for slings to get me up and walk me along. Hey, I am an old lady and I’m only three days out…I will get there! It helps me to have my brother and my little sister (pictured here) for company and encouragement – they are both very gentle with me and respectful (for the most part) of all the attention that I am getting from Mom and Dad.

You are such a pretty girl Coco! And you have very good looking siblings!

Yes, more “seasoned” dogs take a little longer to get their mobility issues worked out. I know it’s really hard for us humans to be patient, but you seem to be chilling and relaxing with no worries. Pain meds are necessary, it if they make you a little woozy and off balance when you try to walk.

In another few days, maybe after your humans help you stand up, they can remove the towel and step away. Some dogs kind of freeze up with a sling after they start getting a little more confident. You’ll definitely get there kiddo, slowly but surely!!!

Looking forward to more updates AND pictures!

    Hugs to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Hey sweetie pie, I know those fentanyl patches can make pink elephants come visit you but don’t worry, they’re FRIENDLY pink elephants! And when they go away that means you’re all better so we’ll be cheering you on that that happens soon.

Glad things are overall good. Tell your folks about the shopping bag trick for a sling, it’s so much easier than towels. Cut a reusable grocery bag open down the sides, then use it as a sling. Your folks can use the bag’s handles to help lift you up. You probably won’t be needing it for long though, you’re looking good!
