My New Harness…
I tried on my RuffWear Web Master Harness in preparation for recovery from my surgery, which is taking place on Monday. I thought we were going to school or someplace because whenever I wear a vest, I am working. Mom thinks I will get used to the harness, which does feel a bit different from my Bright Spot Therapy Dog vest that I wear when I am working.

just FYI: i had Amira wear this harness on the second day she got home after surgery and when i took it off after she had it on for about 24 hours (minus sleeping), i noticed something “hanging” off one side of her chest. It definitely felt like the area was enlarged (about a handful’ worth!) compared to the other side and of course i freaked out thinking the worse. Well, i’m happy to report that the “hanging” and enlargement went away and i think it was because of the harness straps cutting into her when she was laying down. The harness was fitted properly when she was standing, but i guess the way she was laying, sort of pushed the harness to one side or something. In any event, i haven’t put the Ruffwear back on her since but probably will try it again soon.

The Webmaster is a great harness, but should only be used after the surgical site is fully healed. I would say 3 weeks.

We started with the harness on day 4 and it turned into our safety valve. We didn’t put it on tightly so when he layed down it didn’t cut in but was definitely a help those first days when Max wasn’t steady on his feet and to help getting him up. Max still wears it during the day over four weeks out from the surgery so we can help him up if needed. Good Luck Monday!! We’re all rooting for you to have an uneventful recovery!

Thanks for the information about the harness. Mom and Dad will be careful about using it and will make sure it is loose and that it does not cut into my incision. We all appreciate the well wishes from everyone:)

We LOVE this harness, it literally saved our lives. We DID use it from the moment we picked him up at the vet, staples and all, and we never had a problem. Nitro is a front amp, we just put a t shirt on under it….he pretty much wore it all the time except at night when he slept. Good luck!
